Radiohead, Robert Plant Make the Mercury Prize Shortlist

    Tue, 22 Jul 2008 17:44:31

    Alongside 10 others

London's Covent Garden hosted a small Mercury Prize ceremony this morning, announcing the shortlist for this year's award. While Alex Turner followed the Arctic Monkeys nods of the past two years with a Last Shadow Puppets mention (The Age of the Understatement), Robert Plant (his Alison Krauss collaboration, Raising Sand) and Radiohead (In Rainbows) are 2008's biggest nominees. Us, we're hoping Burial scoops up a win on September 9 for Untrue, since the dubstep pioneer avoids any and all public appearances.

The full "Nationwide Mercury Prize" rundown:

    Adele, 19
British Sea Power, Do You Like Rock Music?
    Burial, Untrue
    Elbow, The Seldom Seen Kid
    Estelle, Shine
The Last Shadow Puppets, The Age of the Understatement
Laura Marling, Alas I Cannot Swim
    Neon Neon, Stainless Style
Portico Quartet, Knee-Deep In The North Sea
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Raising Sand
    Radiohead, In Rainbows
Rachel Unthank and the Winterset, The Bairns
